Our customer is looking for a Head of Development at their office in Utrecht. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing and driving the entire software development lifecycle, from concept and design to implementation and maintenance. Your focus will be developing and executing the overall software development strategy for energy software solutions in alignment with our client goals and objectives. And in addition, your focus will be on managing and leading a team of software developers and system engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet the unique needs of their clients. This is a strategic position that requires exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Software Development Strategy:
- Develop and execute the overall software development strategy for energy software solutions in alignment with our client goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including energy industry experts, product managers, and other business leaders, to define software requirements and project scope, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Drive the adoption of best practices, modern methodologies, and emerging technologies to enhance software development efficiency and effectiveness in the energy domain.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and bottlenecks throughout the software development process, considering the specific challenges and requirements of the energy industry.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to team members, ensuring their growth and success.
- Set clear objectives, establish performance metrics, and conduct regular performance evaluations for the team.
- Foster a positive and motivating work environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and open communication.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in software development, with a strong focus on leadership and management roles within the energy sector.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering large-scale software projects in the energy industry, with knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards.
- Deep understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and technologies, including Agile/Scrum, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud platforms, with a focus on energy software solutions.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of software developers and engineers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and continuous improvement in energy software development.
